Fees for Home Births
Marin and Sonoma Counties
The fees for my services are $4500. This covers comprehensive midwifery care, which includes:
- Counseling
- Risk assessment
- Some diagnostic testing
- Birth preparation
- Labor support
- Birth and immediate postpartum care
- Newborn care education
- Breast feeding support
- Family planning consultation
It does not include: fees for lab work, ultrasounds, physician consultation, hospital care, or the cost of a few supplies you are required to obtain for birth.
If you are interested in having a water birth, I have Birth Tubs available for rent for the four weeks surrounding your due date.
I realize some women cannot afford to pay my full fee. In order to make midwifery care more accessible, I do have a sliding scale based on household income. This is a county-wide sliding scale used by several health practices. In deciding the amount you can pay, please respect the work I do by paying what is realistic and appropriate to your economic situation.
Insurance
If you have insurance that covers midwifery services, I ask that you pay the fees in full by thirty-six weeks. Your insurance company will reimburse you after the birth. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee the exact amount that your insurance carrier will refund, it usually is around 50-70% of my fees, but can be as low as zero or as high as 100%. If you need help with reimbursement I have an expert insurance biller with experience in billing for midwifery services to help with this process.
